HAKON SKOGSTAD, Two Hands to Tango

Ambitious in its scope and dramatically majestic in its style, the gorgeously rendered solo piano work Two Hands to Tango by Award winning and globally touring Norwegian classical pianist, chamber musician, composer and arranger Hakon Skogstad is a cross=cultural recording for the ages.

The multi-talented musician gets to the heart of his passion not only for the art form of Argentine tango – but also intricately explores the unique sound of one the style’s trademark instruments, the bandoneon, its impact on his own interpretational aspects and playing and how it is used in composition and solo arrangements.

Complementing his own imaginative re-workings of classic tangos by masters Lucio Demare, Astor Piazzolla, Enrique Saborido and Eduardo Arolas are two original compositions, the brisk romp “Milonga Impromptu and the multi-movement, rhythmically diverse 10 minute ballad “Tristezas de un Dobles,” a tribute to Piazzolla.
